Job / Employer Description: MassMutual is one of the last few AAA rated Mutual companies left in the financial services industry.  Their focus is on what policyholders will need from their insurance and investment products 40 years from now; not what shareholders want their stock price to look like each quarter.

My job is to review the insurance and investment plans of individuals and closely held businesses to make sure they are part of a comprehensive strategy to serve them in the short and long term.
Activities / Involvement in the Community: I am a member of the Des Moines Kiwanis Club and enjoy volunteering my time to help children.  I am currently working with non-profits to spread the word about a charitable life insurance program for low income working families.

The first YPC event I attended was "Symphony with a Twist"  I still remember Amy noticing I was new and making sure to introduce me to a few people.  I felt welcome right away.  I have been involved with the Membership Committee and was a part of the flag football and bowling leagues last fall/winter.
Something People Don't Know About Me:

I recently found out that I am a bit of a legend in the YPC community as "that guy who hurt himself playing flag football."  I joined YPC to build some new relationships in the area and thought a season of flag football would be a good way to further this goal.  The afternoon of the fourth game I was joking with my coworkers that I had a new injury every week and didn't know what I was going to hurt next.  The third play in the game I felt something loose in my right knee and went to the sidelines.  With only 8 people attending a 7 man team I knew I needed to try and "walk it off" and get back in.  When my knee slipped out of place and I fell to the ground I knew it was time to drive to the hospital.  As I limped to my car the guys on the team were curious what happened; it was obvious they wanted to help.  Unfortunately, they couldn't help without forfeiting the game.  That following weekend I had plenty of ribbing showing up to a Grinnell College Football Alumni Reunion with a brace and crutches.  My right leg still isn't quite the same after surgery to repair my ACL, but I did get a few good friends out of the experience.
